Responsibilities:

Perform core accounting activities, including the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries and support for month-end and year-end close processes.

Manage intercompany accounting and prepare account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.

Assist in maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP, applicable accounting guidance, and established internal control requirements.

Coordinate with external auditors and internal stakeholders by providing timely, accurate, and well-organized support.

Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounting function.

Perform project accounting activities:

Monitor and document materials used, including costs and quantities.

Track and record all labor hours spent on project tasks.

Prepare detailed invoices based on time and materials for client billing.

Analyze project budgets and forecasts to ensure financial accuracy.

Collaborate with project managers to assess project progress and costs.
-
Maintain accurate records for compliance and auditing purposes.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, U.S. GAAP, and experience in financial reporting.

A minimum of 4–5 years of relevant experience in a corporate accounting environment.

Demonstrated attention to detail, sound judgment, and a consistent commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, solid systems aptitude, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

State Sales Tax Specialist - Senior Accountant

A rapidly growing Houston-based company is seeking an experienced Sales Tax Specialist to take ownership of its multi-state sales tax function. This is a high-impact role within Corporate Accounting, offering the opportunity to work across multiple state tax jurisdictions and play a key part in ensuring compliance and accuracy as the company expands.
This position offers the chance to own a critical function, work with modern tax tools, and contribute directly to the company’s operational success. It is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical accuracy and process ownership and is looking to grow within a dynamic accounting team. The role will research the particular states and help determine obligations, nexus and also look at defense items for resolution. The outside tax firm prepares the returns from information entered into Avalara.
The role is 100% fully onsite in the office with an attractive and flexible schedule.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will perform the full scope of state and local sales tax duties , including:

Overseeing multi-state sales tax compliance across various states, headquartered in Texas, with sales tax nexus in most of the states within the continental U.S.

Managing sales tax filings, registrations and certifications in applicable state and local tax authorities, jurisdictions and districts (states, cities, counties and parishes)

Maintaining accurate and organized data entry across state systems and internal platforms
-
Stay abreast of tax laws, rules and regulations according to the compliance requirements of each location and entity

Meet all deadlines and keep current calendars corresponding to each entity and location, according to the state and local tax laws and regulations

Utilize Avalara to:

Ensure timely, accurate, and complete filings
Qualifications:
